Center for Mental Health and Wellness

About Our Center

Founded by military veteran and Licensed Clinical Psychologist Dr. Crystal Peterson, Anchor Center for Mental Health and Wellness aims to innovate how people think about mental health and mental health care. Built on the premise that suffering is a human condition that will be experienced by everyone at some point in their life, we strive to de-stigmatize mental health and to improve access to education, resources and services. We believe that mental health care should start with prevention. Because of this, a large focus of our services offered revolve around preventative mental health and mindfulness. We empower people through education and skills training, so they can make the best-informed decisions about their life. We hold ourselves to the highest ethical standard because it’s our professional code and because it’s the care we would want for ourselves and our families. You are the expert on you. We bring the expertise on the science and process of therapy to collaboratively help you reach your goals. We actively engage in research and within our professional community in order to provide the most cutting edge and effective care. As part of our value of education, we offer student and therapist training, consultation and supervision services. As a veteran owned company, we also give back to active duty, military veterans and first responders through service discounts, volunteer work and veteran organization support.

Health Insurance

It is a conscious decision we have made to not accept health insurance. We believe that therapy involves the confidential collaboration of the individual and the therapist. That meaningful goals are achieved when individuals bring their expertise on themselves and therapists bring their expertise in clinical psychology. We also believe that human suffering and mental health conditions are fundamental human experiences. We promote teaching people resiliency and wellness skills to decrease development, duration and severity of mental health conditions. From our experience, both as therapists and personally, we feel that health insurance runs counter to these beliefs and our practice values. Realizing that economically this may be the only option for some seeking services, we do offer some sliding scale rates, service discounts and will provide a “super bill” or documentation of services rendered upon request for individuals to submit to their insurance companies themselves if they wish.
