Helping people stay anchored during life’s storms
Philosophy
Preventative Mental Health: Life is complex. Along with the “positive” emotions, we will all experience “negative” emotions like pain, loss and disappointment at some point in our lives. At our center for mental health and wellness, we believe that living a life that aligns with one's personal values and regular utilization of resiliency skills can put people in the best position to respond and recover from life’s natural emotional waves (whether small or large). Because of this belief, we hold preventative mental health in as high a regard as the treatment of formal mental health conditions. After all, it is common practice to receive preventative medical services (i.e., annual check-up’s, dental cleanings, eye exams, etc.) because it reduces the chances of developing a serious medical condition and can improve treatment outcomes by identifying conditions early. In the same way, our center promotes preventative mental health services to reduce the occurrence, duration and severity of mental suffering. We achieve this through destigmatizing mental health and empowering people with research informed education and skills resources. Treatment of Mental Health Conditions: Sometimes, for a variety of reasons, we find ourselves lost in a sea of emotional turmoil from the events life gives us. This can be due to a build up of difficult life experiences that finally break us down, being overwhelmed by one significant life event such as a loss or a trauma, and/or because of genetic and chemical reactions occurring within our body (i.e., Major Depressive Disorder). We are here to help in these times too! As Doctors of Clinical Psychology, we are educated and trained to help people understand their experiences and work collaboratively to help them reach their personal goals. Overall, we view suffering as a fundamental human condition that everyone will experience at some point in their lives. From this place of empathy and compassion we help people find their anchors during life’s storms. Click here to learn more about our psychotherapy services.
Ethical and Competent Therapists: We feel honored and privileged that people entrust us with their personal experiences in order to assist them in reaching their mental health and wellness goals. We take this duty seriously and put the trust and safety of our patients first. Because of this, all of our providers have earned a doctorate level degree in clinical psychology from an American Psychological Association (APA) accredited academic program as well as completed an APA accredited pre-doctoral internship. Licensed providers have additionally completed post-doctoral fellowships and are vetted by the California Board of Psychology. Only psychological services that have scientific evidence to support their effectiveness for specific conditions and concerns are used after the provider has completed the appropriate training and consultation to ensure their competency in the treatment.
